   Vreni Barilier
Of international reputation, animated with a stimulating passion and a great sensibility, Vreni Barilier is inhabited by a perseverance of all instants. She works continuously in her luminous attic studio in Payerne. There, all around, studies, works in creative process, others in drying process, give a first look of the production of the artist.

Her mean of expression privileges acrylic painting, which allows her quick interventions, in connection with her moving and imaginary. Multiple thin and transparent coats are deposited on the canvas, a long time work with an economy of material, suggesting however the various structures she encounters while she is walking or riding through the forests. Attracted in particular by the trunks and the trees’ rinds with which she keeps up a personal language, in search to catch the various meanders, structures and possible combinations. She is inspired by the infinite variety, the rugosity, the richness of the shapes that can be found in the nature and creates, time after time a series of works in harmony with her discoveries and emotions.
In other paintings, vast surfaces are crossed by tiny details, punctuated with rust, asphalt, sometimes sand, ingredients enriching the pictorial fields with subtle textures, which lead us into the heart of luminous, meditative and profound works.

Among them, standing out from the whole, an astonishing realisation under the form of a “sudoku”, composed of eighty one small-sized paintings. It is one of the headlines of the exhibition, and underlinines the originality of the artist’s approach. A magnificent work to discover.

Vreni Barilier lives and works in Payerne. She exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad, individually and in group. In 2005, she received the price of the Public and the Price of Montmartre, in a group show at the European Academy of Arts in Paris; Gold Medall in Gembloux (Belgium, 2006). The City of Payerne acquired one of her main works in 2012. Vreni Barilier teaches painting and etching in her studio.
